Child Protection Policy

This Privacy policy refers to Cirque du Dance under the direction of Jodie Nesbitt.

Cirque du Dance acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and its requirements.

General

  • Cirque du Dance acknowledges that children should be given the best possible opportunity to learn. To do this Cirque du Dance commits to providing a secure, safe, and familiar environment in which to work.
  • Cirque du Dance lessons are planned and taught in such a way to encourage positive learning, focussing on positive corrections and praise rather than criticism. Children who are genuinely trying to learn should never feel that they have “got it wrong”.
  • Cirque du Dance seeks to use all current studio locations in the best way possible with regard to child safety and will regularly review the way it uses the facilities.
  • Children are supervised at all times when in the care of Cirque du Dance.
  • Safeguarding Children
  • All teachers and assistants at Cirque du Dance are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • All teachers are advised to complete the NSPCC Child Protection: an introduction (Online Training) Course.
  • Any additional helpers are supervised at all times by checked support staff.
  • Named Child Protection Officers are: Director; Jodie Nesbitt
  • Should there be any concerns about a child the Director will act appropriately in line with their NSPCC Child Protection Training.
  • Any concerns noticed by Support Staff will be reported directly to the Principal or other named Safeguarding Officer, who will follow the guidelines set out in this policy.
